“ VICE PREMIERES “PATIENCE,” THE NEW VIDEO FROM FAR-OUT FANGTOOTH

By Kelly McClure

Nick Gazin is wild about music put out by Hozac and emailed me at the crack of dawn this morning, while I was eating my Crunch Berries, demanding that I put up the premiere of this video. I figure he knows what’s best because he is a man. Just kidding. DESTROY THE PATRIARCHY!!!!!!

Anyway, Far-Out Fangtooth are from Philly and Hozac is releasing their EP, The Thorns, on May 15th.

Watch this video for “Patience,” the latest track released off the EP, while you bathe your privates. “

Vice Review ~“I guess there has been a lot of pinched nostrils and foul mutterings from the internet dooferati and other burrito-choking types over the debut LP from Philadelphia’s Far-Out Fangtooth. I’ve spun the thing more than a few times in the past few weeks, and I really don’t see what the issue is here. Granted, they look like Vince Noir’s backing band if The Black Tubes backed out of the gig, but the whole capes and wizard caps thing aside, this is a solid listen that doesn’t really bring to mind the gloom, doom, or spent candles of the gothdom tag that has been lazily pinned upon them. It reminds me more of the pre-crappy moments of Band of Susans or the more obvious connection of SST era Sonic Youth—both decent things to be compared to, me thinks. Small boys from Australia are great and all, but jeesh, would it kill you to buy American once in awhile? You’ll be glad you did.”http://www.vice.com/read/from-our-lips-and-hips-to-the-horned-one-s-ears

FAR OUT FANGTOOTH

Far-Out Fangtooth are one of the bands here in Philly that I’ve been meaning to see but just never have. Every person I talk to about them gave me great reviews and reminded me how much I was missing out on. I won’t be missing this one though. And neither should you! Pure & Disinterested (Slitbreeze Records) will be the band’s first full length album. It’s also being co-presented by all around good dude YVYNYL and local online mag The Deli. A stack of locals, including one of my absolute favorites Creepoid, and the Smile DJs (Jem and Wil H.) this is going to be not to miss!
